About us
Located in the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, the Map Library boasts a high collection of research-level literature and services to support the teaching, research, and learning activities at the University of Zimbabwe. The collection covers physical and human geography and the geosciences that include geographic information systems and environmental sciences; rural and urban planning and real estate management. The Library also provides access to different types of maps that include topographic maps, political maps, physical maps, climate maps and economic maps. The Map Library provides access to contemporary information and communication technology infrastructure that support research and a conducive environment for studying. Additionally, the Library offers many ways to support research, from consultations with subject-specialist librarian on literature searching, course-related instruction, citation management software and expertise to research and publishing guides. |

In addition to the print resources, the Library provides access to a comprehensive collection of online resources that caters for the disciplines of geography, environmental science and rural and urban planning. The online resources are accessed via the Library Website. The Library provides access to an online repository of different types of maps that include topographic maps, political maps, physical maps, climate maps and economic maps.

The Library provides cutting edge services that support research and scholarship in the areas of GIS and spatial planning. The services offered include: Library offers many ways to support research, from consultations with subject-specialist librarian on literature searching, course-related instruction, citation management software and expertise to research and publishing guides. Borrowing Patrons can borrow print resources from the Map Library. Visit the Library OPAC to view the resources available in the Map Library. Reference Services Enquiries can be made about the Library and the services offered. Contact the Map Librarian Study Spaces The Library provides a conducive study environment. Internet and computing services The Map Library provides access to contemporary information and communication technology infrastructure that support research. Patrons can conduct their research using desktop computers available in the Library. Additionally, users can bring their own devices to access the Internet. There are network cables and wireless connection provided in the Library. Digitisation In collaboration with the Department of Geography and Environmental Science, the Library offers digitisation services for printed Maps. |
Membership
The Map Library is open to University of Zimbabwe students and staff. It also has an approved reader membership for corporations/societies, individuals from corporations, universities/colleges/government research institutions, students from abroad, individuals from non-governmental organisations and diplomats. |
