October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and a great time to spread awareness about the importance of breast health, show support for those affected by breast cancer and bring awareness on available research to advance the understanding of breast cancer and innovative approaches to its management. In Zimbabwe, breast cancer is the second most common cancer among women.

The University of Zimbabwe Library recognises the importance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To honor the October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this blog features links to Library online resources on breast cancer.

What is Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer is a type of cancer that starts from cells of the breast (chest, armpit and upper arm area) in women. It usually starts in the tubes that carry milk to the nipple (ducts) and glands that make milk (lobules). Read more on breast cancer facts, signs and symptoms, and prevention.
