Established as Zimbabwe’s first university press, the University of Zimbabwe Press (UZPress) serves as the official academic publishing arm of the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). Committed to advancing scholarship, it specialises in producing and disseminating peer-reviewed scholarly, creative and scientific works—including journals, monographs and books—that commercial publishers often overlook.

Core Functions & Services

UZ Press operates as a comprehensive publishing partner, offering end-to-end services from manuscript preparation (copyediting, design and formatting) to production, distribution and marketing. It provides tailored publishing guidance to UZ faculties, departments and affiliated institutions while managing warehousing, global academic outreach and sales of its titles.

Quality Assurance

All submissions undergo rigorous double-blind peer review to uphold academic integrity. Approved manuscripts are assessed by the Library, Publications and Knowledge Management Committee (LPKMC) before publication. UZ Press prioritises works by UZ academics, complemented by submissions from external scholars, repeat authors and targeted acquisitions.

Impact & Reach

Since its founding, UZ Press has published ground-breaking research by distinguished scholars, cementing its role as a vital contributor to global knowledge ecosystems. Its catalogue spans disciplines critical to Zimbabwean and international scholarship, ensuring accessibility to diverse audiences through both print and digital formats.

Submission & Collaboration

Faculty engagement is central to UZ Press’s mission. Academics are encouraged to submit proposals or recommend works for possible publication. UZ Press welcomes collaborations with institutions and researchers aligned with its scholarly goals.
